What you'll need to bring for your horse
What we'll provide for your horse
Please note that you’ll be fully responsible for the care of your horse during their stay, unless pre-arranged agreement is in place with the yard staff.
As the classroom is carpeted we ask for muddy shoes/boots to be removed before entering please. It is open 24/7 for your use.
The main yard gates are locked at night, and there is CCTV for security.
Butt & Oyster, Pin Mill
On the harbour, beautiful, with great, reasonably priced food. The parking isn’t suitable for vehicles larger than a car.
The Boot, Freston
Has parking for a small lorry, and also does great food, but is a little more expensive.
There are also other pubs very locally.
Directions to GB EQUESTRIAN
Brick Kiln Road, Harkstead, Ipswich IP9 1BH
From the A14 from the Bury St Edmunds direction:
Take the last junction before the Orwell bridge (which will be signposted the A137 towards Ipswich and Brantham).
At the top of the slip road take the first exit still the A137.
Then at the next roundabout take the second exit towards Shotley (B1456). This will take you under the Orwell bridge and past the Suffolk food hall. Then stay on that road.
You will go through Freston.
Once you go past the sign saying you are in Woolverstone, go past some houses on the left and take the first right.
It is signposted Harkstead and the road says Harkstead Lane. Stay on that road which wiggles around, and eventually you will go round a left bend where you will see a big sign in front of you saying GB Equestrian.
The yard entrance is then the first turning on the right (if you miss it don’t worry as the next drive is GB Equestrian’s too!).
As you drive in you will pass some stables on your right. Go past these.
At the end of the stables turn right into the lorry car park.
It is possible to turn around in here too. I may be teaching when you arrive but the yard staff will help you. Post code for the yard is IP9 1BH. Sat nav is generally good at finding it.
From the Felixstowe direction it is the first turning after the Orwell bridge and then follow the directions above.
